Freight delivery checklist

Freight is not parcel delivery. Print this, keep it by the door on delivery day, and work through it before the driver leaves.

Before delivery day

  • Confirm the appointment when the carrier calls you.
  • Clear the route from kerb to room.
  • Arrange a second person; crates are heavy and awkward.
  • Confirm liftgate or inside delivery if you ordered it.
  • Charge your phone — you will need the camera.

When the truck arrives

Do not let the driver leave until this section is complete.

  • Photograph the crate while it is still on the truck.
  • Photograph it again once it is on the ground.
  • Walk all four sides and the top.
  • Look for crushing, punctures, tears, and shifted or cut banding.
  • Check whether the crate has been re-stacked or re-wrapped.

Before you sign

Signing a clean delivery receipt generally ends the carrier's liability. This is the moment that matters.

  • Write any damage on the delivery receipt, in words, before signing.
  • Photograph the annotated receipt.
  • Refuse the shipment outright if the damage looks significant.
  • Keep your copy of the receipt.

After delivery

  • Open the crate and photograph the stand before moving it.
  • Check the stand against your order confirmation.
  • Keep the crate and all packing until you are satisfied.
  • Report any damage to support@tanklith.com within 5 business days.
